Finikia village in Santorini, a delightful whitewashed contrast to the volcanic scenery

Finikia in Santorini is a picturesque village sculpted in the banks of a torrent. Located on the southeast of Oia, in no more than 15 minutes walk, Finikia features white houses in horizontal lines, creating a delightful calm contrast to the wild volcanic scenery of the caldera.

On the vineyards of the village, one can see dozens of chapels scattered around, adorned with humble offerings from old sailors. Right next to each chapel stands a “panigirospito” (house of feasts), patiently waiting for the Patron Saint’s Day, St Irini. Visit the chapels of Panagia Matrona, featuring a magnificent icon screen, Saint Kiriaki and Saint Konstantinos and don’t miss a walk up to Kyra Panagia for a breathtaking sunset view.
