For a complete tour in Lixouri, you will definitely need a car. Set off  from Argostoli, either by loading your car on the ferry boat and let yourselves enjoy the pleasant, short trip or you can choose to drive to Lixouri and get charmed by the landscape you will meet. Once in Lixouri town, stroll around the narrow, paved streets and feel the vibe of the locals with their unique spirit. Keep your ears open for sweet music or songs coming out, music is in the air, in the culture, even in the way people speak!
Walk your way to Iakovatios Library, which comprises  rare book collections, manuscripts, Byzantine and post-Byzantine icons.

Lixouri Central Square

It’s midday and temperature has raised, time for a refreshing sea dip! For an exquisite  beach scenery, you can drive to Petani beach,  featuring crystal clear waters, rather wavy  most of the times. If you have children, we recommend  Xi Beach or Mega Lakko, red sandy beaches featuring warm and shallow waters.

On your way back, choose a small tavern along the coast of south Palliki to savor fresh fish and the local cuisine and wine. After your energy refill, continue your drive to Mantzavinata and Soullari, villages that carry a long tradition in winemaking. If it happens to be here at the end of August, you will have the chance to watch the winemaking procedure in the residents’ yards.
During sunset, find yourselves watching one of the most spectacular sunset views from the natural veranda in Kipouria Monastery. If you have some time before dawn, hike the path to Platia Ammos beach, a hidden gem below the monastery.
